Why does it matter to have HEPA 13 filtration?

HEPA-13 is medical-grade purification technology that traps 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns, and 99.95% of particles down to 0.1 microns in diameter.

Sans features thee filters providing four stages of purification:

The Pre + Carbon filter traps larger particles and sediment. This is replaced every 12 months.
The VOC Carbon filter eliminates unpleasant odors and taste. This replaced every 12 months.
The Reverse Osmosis filter removes heavy metals, chemicals and microplastics. This filter is replaced every 24 months.
